Patrick Villanova is an award-winning journalist and editor with more than 10 years of experience producing digital and print content. While his career started in the newspaper industry, he currently writes about personal finance online. His work has appeared on SmartAsset, MagnifyMoney, Yahoo! Finance, MSN and other outlets.
Patrick began his career in journalism as a summer intern at The Jersey Journal writing obituaries, covering local sports, and assisting with page design. In 2011, he was named sports editor of the paper and was promoted to city editor three years later.
He has won several New Jersey Press Association awards for sports and news coverage, and was a part of a team that won first place for breaking news in 2016.
Beyond writing and editing, Patrick is an avid hiker, mountain biker, and general outdoor enthusiast. Born and raised in New Jersey, Patrick currently lives in Portland, Oregon – the perfect home base for all his outdoor adventures.
